I'm sitting on a hertz shuttle, headed to san antonio airport, wearing a Pat O'Brien's. "I survived a hurricane!" T-shirt with a picture of a huge drink on the back.
I know that none of you have ever seen me in a shirt this cheesy because I don't buy or wear them. I turned down 2 different F5 shirts at our conference because I won't wear them, I like plain shirts for the most part, occasionally some interesting design.
So, what happened? Well... The title should give you something of a hint...
I was walking down the road, typing on my blackberry and half looking ahead. At that moment, a guyin a chef coat with his back to me decided to turn round and head my way. Unfortunately, as he turned, his hand collided with my shoulder. Even more unfortunately, his hand was holding a cup of hot liquid. Initially I thought it was coffee and I was glad I wasn't scalded but it didn't smell like coffee and when I looked at the ground, I could see why. It wasn't coffee, it was minestrone... So, I'm standing there with bits of veggie clinging to my hair, sunglasses, face, shirt and pants, looking as if I projectile vomited straight up in the air and then caught it on the way down... with my face... I started laughing and said "at least it wasn't too hot" and since the guy had a chef's coat, I asked where he worked so I could clean up.
That's how I ended up at Pat O'Briens. I cleaned up as best as I could (I still smell like minestrone) and once I was done, the manager gave me a t-shirt and bought me a drink.
Incidentally, both my watch and in fact my blackberry are, de facto, soup-resistant. To what depth I will never know...
